With Honors

Pretty ranked third for Grade 4 SY2015-2016. She was awarded Best in Math and Best in English. Please indulge me in expressing how proud we are of her academic awards.

Her lola was able to make it despite my late advise. We had a quick lunch after the ceremony. Dropped by NBS to check out some good reads.

We visited Dad who we know is quite happy with D's achievements as well.

We have a short trip planned with my in-laws to further celebrate and formally embrace summer. Promise to post about it afterwards.

It seems that I now cry more during graduation rites compared to weddings. I guess I can now relate more to the hardship of parents in trying to provide the best education they can afford for their child. Meanwhile, the sadness of parting with old friends plus the fear and excitement on what the future holds for the graduates moved me in tears.

Hay, drama! 🎓🙌

Review: The Graveyard Book

The Graveyard Book The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Makes me want to hangout in a nearby memorial park and wait for them. I particularly enjoyed the artwork thrown in some chapters pages and in between. By the end of the book, I felt sad to part with the Owens and Silas yet excited for Bod's new life outside the graveyard.

I Don't Want To Be A Grown Up

Run run Lost Boy, they say to me
Away from all of reality
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free

Lost Boy by RuthB

The song triggers the escapist in me. Imagine how it'd be like in Neverland. To fly around with a boy who doesn't want to grow up.

Fun.

I bet that's how it's gonna be.

* * *

Like Wendy, I have family which requires me to be a grown up. Go to work and get paid to achieve a comfortable enough lifestyle we can afford. It's tough and tiring but I'm not complaining.

At times when reality's being a bitch, there's always my Neverland. Then I'll come back home, recharged and ready to pick up from where I've left off.

Revolutionary Road

I got a glimpse of the last bits of the movie again yesterday and went to check if I've posted something about it here already.

Book Review
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/112396533

About the story: Yes, it's got quite an anti-suburban theme. It made me actually reflect (with a tinge of doubt) on our lifestyle choices and our relationship in the hood. In the end, it's boils down to one's true intention and personal values.

Go watch and read when able! 🙆

Pablo The Lab

How do I write this entry without tearing up?

He has this great deep voice that scares people when he barks. If he barks at all. When he does, he's not actually trying to scare you but or more of trying to call your attention. Why? Because he wants to play with you.

Like most lab dogs, he's malambing and playful. When he was a pup, he'd eagerly tackle our 3yo D and unintentionally hurt her in the process. He'a just too big and D's too flimsy. When you're near him, he would reach his paw out and make kalabit hahaha as if saying "Pet me, please".

We kept him for four years. Because he got so big, he lived with my in-laws where they have ample space for him to move about.

He's in dog heaven now. Best not to wallow in misery about it because maybe he'd get to play with Dad.

Anime: Clannad (Movie) Screencaps

Some favorite scenes, prolly spoilers. You've been warned.

Land of Desolation
The place IS depressing.

When they first met, sakura aplenty.

Why he doesn't eat appan bread, I never knew. The drawing switch to sketches like so from time to time.

When they spent the night while she works on the script about her dream.

Goosebumps all over.

What I like about this film is that the story doesn't end after he confessed his love for her.

As the story was compressed to 180mins, we didn't get to see character development of the rest of the dojango family. All the more reason to watch the series.

Thought I wouldn't shed a tear until I got to this part.
