Sands of Time

Prince of Persia - DOS Game (Original)
Originally uploaded by S.A.L.

Yey, managed to finish the movie just now! I had to content myself to watching it in installment. Not much FAQ from imdb, likewise in the message board. I liked it, Prince Dastan was intense :D

Saw this photo from flickr while I was looking for one to use with this entry. Correct me if I'm wrong, but, Man! couldn't believe this is the same game the movie was based on. Well not THIS dos game version anyway. I think I wasn't able to finish this one, neither have I played the 3Dish version.

I'm having a ball catching up my movie lag. I'm taking a short break from books.

I cannot express how happy I am to say that the three of us were finally able to watch a movie together, hurray! :D It was only an accident when we were looking for a place to hang out while the little girl doze off. She lost interest in shopping any further and declared she's really sleepy.

I figured we need a colder place and that she's so dead tired that loud sound effects wouldn't matter so long as I cover her ears. Anyways, about 1/3rds of the the movie and she woke up. I was worried she'll insist on going out during scary parts but I guess she too was curious as to how things'll eventually turn out.

I don't know if I have time to give a comprehensive movie review but hey, dani liked the movie. The festive chinatown scene was my favorite apart from the cheezy playing music alongside plasma cage date scene. Oh yeah, I didn't know it was linked to Fantasia but the mops did remind me of the cartoon. I didn't get the Star Wars reference as I've read in imdb.

Outside, we passed by movie posters and hopefully asked dani what she wants to watch next. I think I'm pressing my luck too much as she didn't like any at all.

Andrew Turns One

Last saturday, we attend a birthday party in Taguig. Dani's ninong and ninang were the host and knowing them, this is one party she'll enjoy. Dani has the tendency to be irritated by poor air conditioning and noise. As expected, she joined most of the games and took away lots of prizes much to her delight.
Andrew Turns One
Despite having been deprived of her afternoon nap, she's hyper like someone on clinicallix with sugar booster. What makes this party different is that Dani's charm did not quite work with the party host's assistant and took a lot of twisted balloons before she was given one. Finally she got a white swan but it didn't survived the rest of the party.

You be the judge. Tell me, do you think she had fun? :D

So I got curious and scanned a wiki entry about him. I got a copy of his downloadable ebook "Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom", obviously free thanks to Creative Commons licensing. I think its worth the time rather than readingacnepril reviews.Anywho, it looks interesting, a sci-fi novel about a man who dreams to live in Disney World and his quest to save his favorite ride, losing his girl to his friend after being murdered and reincarnated ;) I like the concept of earning wuffies as currency that has to be earned by respect.

Hubby shared this to me awhile ago. Sabi nga nya, pinatamaan ako ng anak mo ah. Coz yesterday morning I heard Dani telling her dad to call her in the afternoon on the telephone when he's at the office. And the dad said, yes pretty I'll call you later. Yesterday, I was the first to arrive home from work and Dani immediately told me I didn't call her. I wasn't aware that I was supposed to (I don't phone her a lot from work, I get distracted, makes me want to go home na). So I said sorry. Anyways, turns out hubby forgot to call her, hence the prayer.

Time and again, I have to remind myself that the little girl is no longer a baby. She knows what she wants and has real feelings already. These are simple requests that sometimes matter more than the next pasalubong.

On the side, I'm praying we wont be needing disability appeal and stuffs like that anytime soon

Hot Pandesal

Pandesal

Yey! I'm so happy a new branch has opened just across our office building. I went there earlier and bought 6pcs, half of which I finished already. Nothing beats freshly pugon-baked pandesal, yum!

Sad thing is, I only have a few months to enjoy this treat. We are moving. Until then, I'll have hot pandesal for snack. This is carbo right? Talk about losing weight and I've just read up some weight loss tips *sigh*

Will you eat these pretties?

Found these cuties while I was looking for the specific rice crackers I've been craving for but is currently MIA in Landmark. It's the plain circle, sweet and salty kind, one piece can easily fit on top of my palm. If in case you happen to be in Japan, not to be ingrateful but can you please bring me some of these as pasalubong instead of custom travel mugs?

*Sigh* I miss my Lipton Milk Tea Gold variant. I miss the Spicy Red Sugo in snack pack. I miss my japanese crackers.

My little helper: Ice Pops
Originally uploaded by kitakitts

Another one that has passed the barcode scanner from the toy store's cashier counter. Sigh. Dani saw this blender+ice pop maker toy from one of the "free" cds that the sales attendant previously gave to us. Turns out it contains some video ads for various toys which I imagine is in most child's wish list.

Even though we already have a blender and never mind that I can buy ice pop molds, maybe what made me buy it is the fact that I also wanted one when I was a child :p Dani saw me drafting this post earlier and she wanted to use it again. So I guess, it's sulit for her because she's able to make her own food and enjoy them later.

I was just browsing through my flickr archives and chanced upon this well. If you had been to Teatrillo, Casa Manila you'd probably seen it. It's a bit spooky, I know, specially if you've watched The Ring. Despite this, we made this as our buffet area during our wedding reception. We just made sure it's well (pun intended) lighted and decorated.

It reminded me of the time when people had to trek and fetch water from wells, go home and use the water. My lola make use of fine cloth as water filter covering the spout of the banga where we get out drinking water. I want to believe that the water then was cleaner than what we have now.

back in the day, his only daughter and I were inseperable. my youngest sister was yet to be born, so she took the part instead. you can say that my cousin was quite naughty and hard headed which earned her some spanking from her tatay. yet, as i saw him discipline her, i didn't fear for him nor like him less. i thought he's was just being a father doing what he think is right. he had his share of secrets, my mom managed to hide from me. from adult discussions i'd pick up that he had a son. it was only when i was working already that my relatives thought i'm old enough to understand and they'd openly talk about it. in some family gatherings, i recognised him. he's hard to miss because he's so much like his dad except that he's gay.

i haven't been to the wake. i will be there tomorrow, for my tita and my cousin. i know they'll need all the support or whatever emergency assistance we can give. pray i won't break down so much like i always do when i see people crying. more so when they are not crying but obviously hurting.

i try not to think so much of the dead. but i guess, through our memories, they are more alive than ever.

One time I was looking for a gift for my nephew and saw these cool remote controlled cars with a Buy One Take One promo. One of the cars came close enough to pink and thought it'd be a great pasalubong for dani.

Now hubby and the princess has another means to bond by racing with each other :D

My Little Helper: Pancakes

My Little Helper: Pancakes
Originally uploaded by kitakitts

Usually, on Saturday mornings, the little girl would request pancakes for breakfast.

My Little Helper: Pancakes
1) Crack and beat the egg.
2) Pour the flour with ala spring plungers action ;)

She cracked the egg already before I thought of getting the camera.

My Little Helper: Pancakes
3) Pour the milk

My Little Helper: Pancakes
4) Mix, mix and mix.

She'd have a couple of "taste test" first before fully turning the batter over to me for cooking.

We've been making variants by adding marshmallows or smarties. Just recently she wanted to eat corn and agreed to add them on her pancakes. I hope she won't tire of my pancakes soon.

THE KARATE KID

THE KARATE KID
Originally uploaded by Sony Pictures

When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I bookmarked it as a must see. When I say this, it doesn't have to be on the big screen. Managed to watch it last night and can't help saying to myself, "That kid is really fit." LOL

I didn't look for spoilers about the movie and got to enjoy most of the scenes. Of course I cried when Mr. Han was wrecking the car like no cheap car insurance can save.

Cebu Pacific currently offers flights to Beijing at 50% off for travel period Sept-Oct 2010. It would be nice to get on that plane and have the chance to tour the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. Sigh.

On other news, I am enrolled in one of those online Korean 101 sites for a 7-day trial. A feeble attempt to learn something new. Based on phonetics, I know about 20 words already :) I've been listening to KPop, might as well learn what they mean, ne?

I've been looking all over for this book. Always out of stock but I managed to get a copy at.. SM Dasma NBS :D I think people out here doesn't really like buying books that much. I got this one as a present for hubby. You see, books (or reading in general) are like sleeping pills for him. Even when he attempts to read FHM, expect him to drowse off after a couple of minutes. So it was a challenge to find a book that he'll be able to read from cover to cover. This book was highly recommended to PBA fans, so after reading a couple of pages from amazon, I started hunting for one. Currently, he's on page 18 and I'm keeping my fingers crossed ;)

A Gentleman on the Bus

Originally uploaded by erika.tricroche

The other night, as I was trying to get home early, I took the first trip even if I have to stay half way through the trip. We were ushered at the back of the bus and I prepared myself and hang on the bar. Not sure if someone tapped my shoulder but I looked to my right. I didn't quite hear as I have my earphones on but it seemed to me the man was offering his seat to no other than.. moi.

I'm guessing from his attire, he's a yuppie on his home. I looked around for pregnant woman or an elderly whom I think deserves the seat more than me. I saw a man maybe on his late 40s but I think he might feel offended if I offered the seat to him instead. He's not yet the type worries about hair loss for men or stuffs like that.

And so I plump myself on the seat, after clearly thanking the guy for his kind gesture.

That is how the new doctor classified my little girl with her weight for her age. As expected, he doesn't recommend strict diet or try some best weight loss products but still suggested we do something for her to lose some weight. I think we can't do much about her food intake as she barely eats, obviously we can't cut her milk intake either. We'll just have to figure out how she can have more physical activities and burn all those fat. Anyway, we didn't go there for weight issues.

Hubby decided we ought to bring Dani to her pedia to have a look on the red bumps on her forearms and legs. It has been more than a week since it first appeared and we're thinking it's getting worst. Doc says it's nothing viral but simply an allergic reaction to something her skin must have had contact with (like grass or bed mites). He prescribed a non-drowsy anti-histamine to be taken for 5days and topical ointment to relieve the itchiness.

I learned a lot from the doctor today. As much as I want to believe that my little girl is strong and healthy, stuffs like these reminds me she's still vulnerable just the same.

The Cake

4th Birthday Party
Originally uploaded by kitakitts

I didn't really gave much thought on the party details to the point I even forgot about the cake. I figured I can stop by Goldilocks Bakeshop and buy a generic chocolate cake. But then, I thought we're supposed to have a Barbie Themed Party and since I was already in SM Dasma at the time, at least I can try to look what bakeshop carries the brand.

Anyways, upon finding this cute cake, I called hubby to confirm if ok to buy na. Unfortunately, their branch does not deliver and we'll have to pick it up as soon as the mall opens.

Friday came and dutifully hubby went to get the cake. The kids' faces lit up upon seeing the huge box that came with it.

4th Birthday Party

Cupcakes are perfect for extra giveaways or dessert for the party. I had to borrow a box cutter to get these babies out.

All dolled up at 4

4th Birthday Party
Originally uploaded by kitakitts

Months before, it has been decided that she will have a Barbie Themed Party when she turns four. I thought this time it'll be stress-free as we're only planning to celebrate her birthday together with her classmates.

Food: Chicken and Spaghetti Meal w/ Pineapple drink, Chocolate Sundae from Jollibee
So I thought I'd order food and have it delivered from Jollibee. Turns out, they have a minimum P3k worth of food for delivery services. I would've preferred if they delivered na lang even if I have to pay a fee. After much discussion, I just paid the food in advance and pick it up on the day itself. Sort of an advance order for pick-up at 9:30 am.

I have 3 missed calls from an unknown number. I also received a text message from a Jollibee crew confirming my order. So I called and confirmed I'll be there by 9:30am as previously agreed. We were probably 5 minutes early and I was expecting majority of the food was boxed up and ready to go. However, it was only when we arrived did they start to prepare so we have to wait for 15mins maybe. I assumed they were just concerned with the quality of food and just waited for me before packing.

We got to the school at around 10am. Hubby left to pickup the cake from SM Dasma. A couple of minutes after, teacher Yen gave the go signal to bring in the food already. Good thing I remembered the party stuffs we bought from previous trip to the mall. One of the little girl's wish is to have flaglets for deco.

While serving the food to the chikitings, I regretted not preparing placemat for them. Not that anyone requested for it, still I promised myself next time I'll make some :D A good thirty minutes has passed and the husband arrived with the cake on hand.

From this point, majority of the kids has finished eating already. My daughter was so happy, she kept looking at her classmates and barely touched her food. Teacher Yen gathered the kids around the cake, everybody sang the birthday song and the little girl blew the candles.

4th Birthday Party

She couldn't wait to give out the lunch boxes herself to each of her classmates. Afterwards, we cleaned up and expressed our gratitude to teacher yen for letting us hold the party during her class. We just stayed outside and waited for Dani's class to be over.

On the way home, she said: Mommy, this is the best birthday party ever. She kept saying that the whole time. For her, just a simple party with her friends is enough. No expensive gifts with Ferrari parts or anything.

I am in the last chapter of Mitch's Tuesdays with Morrie. I stopped myself lest I want my colleagues to see me crying at work :p Last Friday, I forgot to bring home Murakami's Kafka on the Shore. Saturday came and I pulled out Tuesdays from the bookshelf for some light reading :) Why does someone has to die in his books? Much like Sparks. I've a couple of aphorisms tucked in my sleeves for inspiration, much like vitamins for the soul :D

First time I've read about tension of the opposites. Still, how do deal with such? Or at least recognizing the situation is a good first step already? I'm sure some of Morrie's thoughts are not rocket science but it somehow brings clarity to me.
