Art of Storytelling

Storytelling Workshop
Originally uploaded by kitakitts

I decided to leave the house with hubby, who was oblivious to the fact that I'm not going where I'm supposed to. Weeks ago, I nonchalantly mentioned to hubby about this workshop I've been wanting to attend. Bus tickets were paid, before dozing off, I casually told him my destination for the day. I then promised to text him later.

It has been months, maybe even a year since my last LRT trip. Sexy A told me to step off the train on UN Ave and better to walk until I reach the boulevard. I decided to eat my breakfast first. It was quite a long walk, good thing I was early and there was a slight breeze.

Twas my third time to visit Museong Pambata. After I have promptly registered, with my kit on hand, I searched for a friendly face. First table was full, on to the next. Miss C was busying herself, scanning the brochures. I asked her if I could take the empty seat. I didn't ask for her name anymore, she's wearing her name tag as do I. She's married, no kids, previously a high school teacher. Wondering how long will I go on exchanging pleasantries with Miss C, much to my relief, the moderator called our attention to gather round and form a circle.

As opposed to what most participants do, who shy away from the back, I prefer to be close to the speaker. Buti na lang hindi talsik laway si Kuya Bodjie. I couldn't smell a hint of perfume, guereunde he didn't smell bad :)

Ako po si Bodjie Pascual, isang matandang artista.

I was the first one to introduce myself to the group. It would've been a perfect opportunity to reinvent and make a good impression of myself.

I'm so-so of so-so company. I'm here to learn storytelling basically for my daughter :p

True but boring, ne?

..gusto ko kakompitensyahin si Lola Basyang..
..I'm a graduate of Library Science..

Anyway, we did silly stuffs the whole day. Mostly I just observed the group and mentally took note of techniques thrown to us every now and then. Like any craft, I think it would take a lot of practice, mani yeonbumhaeyo, to reach Kuya Bodjie's level.

Just tell the story. Do not police nor censor. Practice your timing and rhythm. Do vocal exercises.

Sal opsoe

I've been feasting on this cake for two days already. Calories galore.
I'm supposed to spoil somebody else today.

Bonding at Timezone

I frequent this arcade during my single days. Almost everyday we'd spend P500 a day sweating it out on DDR and banging the drums to Anarchy of UK, scaring our wits trying to gun down zombies from House of the Dead. Sigh.
Last thursday while waiting for the husband at Foodchoices, the little asked me if we could play upstairs. Airhockey is her fave, I dont have the heart to see her lose but I don't make it too easy for her either. Afterwards we had a late dinner at Kenny Rogers and went home happily.

Shh.. The baby is sleeping

Glad the husband kept his promise and drove us to work today. Last night, the little girl cried because hubby doesn't want her to go. You see, the other day, I mentioned to the little girl that I'll bring her at work but she has to ask her dad when. The husband answered that it's up to the little girl when she'd like to go. Holding on to that moment, she looked forward to thursday. I think hubby had a bad day and well drama followed afterwards.

Fast forward to today. She had been very cooperative, behaved well and sometimes forgets to keep her voice down but nonetheless I was able to work a little :D Luckily PBS Kids and Nick Jr aren't blocked at work, occassionally she'd find herself on a page about outdoor firepit and whatnot, harmless sites really.

We bought a little something for her, birthday present which i'll hopefully blog next.

Anyways, I want my daughter to know that I am so proud of her. Sugohaessoso. I'm happy by the way she's adjusting to school and I know she's missing her friends now that they are on vacation.

I believe last year she was ranked 4th in her class. Her friend L, who was 3rd transferred school, thus opening the slot for her.

I couldn't remember what reward we gave her for her honors. Definitely not an ipod touch (no budget). However, together with my parents we did treat her to her favorite resto in Tagaytay. Although by the time we get there, she's a little bit cranky and would've wanted to sleep na.

I love you, pretty. We're so proud of you.

A Lost Story

We were shopping together in a mall. She got lost. She cannot find me in all of the shops in the first stairs. She cannot find me in the second stairs either. She asked a lady to call my number. I went to her and she's happy to see me.
She told me her dream first thing in the morning.

Puff, the Magic Dragon

Puff the Magic Dragon Book & CDPuff the Magic Dragon Book & CD by Peter Yarrow

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I adored this song when I was a kid but has forgotten about it until I saw it from the bookstore last night. Without second thoughts, I grabbed myself a copy, excited to go home. My 5yo daughter heard the song for the first time and she loved it! a couple more rounds, she was able to sing along with me. The illustrations and phasing of the book just made the song even better. I barely remember the story and was heartbroken for Puff when Jack didn't come back. No exaggeration but I had goosebumps when I saw the page of a girl playing with Puff, turns out Jack didn't forget his dragon after all. He brought a new playmate for Puff, his own daughter, to Honalee.

We all grow up and busied ourselves with our jobs and daily-what-nots. This is a good reminder that we can always go back to a place like Honalee and use our imagination to revive ourselves.

Highly recommended.
