I'll cross the sky for you

Eleanor & ParkEleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sorry this is not much of a review.

Two misfits. One extraordinary love.

I'm so hangup on their first love story. Hubby caught me taking down notes on some of the quotes I loved from the book. The sort someone would read and wouldn't get unless they read the book :D It's goes to show how much I adored it.

Presently listening to the playlist. Helps me with my withdrawal symptoms.

How could it be possible that there were that many never ending all in one place?

Review: The Missing Piece Meets the Big O

The Missing Piece Meets the Big O
The Missing Piece Meets the Big O by Shel Silverstein

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The little girl and I have read this book countless of times.  I've learned from the book that I have the power to make myself happy and complete. Fill your cup. Inspire to be the Big O and be your own person. I hope these lessons will stick to her as she deals with human relationship in various stages of her life.

Found these nice videos of The Missing Piece and The Missing Piece Meets the Big O.  A bit old school but nothing beats reading a real book.

I deferred watching movie #3 so I can proceed with book 4. I'm itching to do so, just to revisit The Yule Ball episode. Curious how the movie makers were able to visualize the magical setting the book demands. Think they might've used acura legend custom floor mats or the likes?

I remembered Professor Woody suggest pursuing a career as an Auror to Harry. I've no idea how things'll turn out in book 7 aside from The Big Battle. Long way to go..

Review: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

While I was reading this book to my 5 year old little girl, I sensed she was curious about the story. From the cover itself, she knows that the character is not in a good mood.

Later, I asked her if she ever had a bad day like Alexander. She said to me: "I never had a bad day. I have good luck."

I thought about her best friend in school, Alex, and what would my daughter feel if she's not Alex's first best friend anymore. She said, "It's ok, I'm still her friend naman."

I guess that's my Little Miss Sunshine right there.

Though she wasn't able to empathize with the character, I liked the message of the book to the readers. Sometimes, and only sometimes, it's normal to be grumpy and cranky when things don't go the way you want to. Because some days are like that. After acknowledging such, one should focus more on staying positive and look forward to a better day tomorrow.

Gift For Nathalie Ysabel

Took the time to personalize the wrap. I received a call from one of Dani's godfather the other night. Just as I suspected, he's inviting us for her daughter's baptism :D

Dani has leftover paperoons from her previous packs, made use of some and drew a sunny meadow with pretty blooms :D Inside are hardbound copies of A Very Hungry Caterpillar By Eric Carle and Princess Baby by Karen Katz from Powerbooks.

Puff, the Magic Dragon

Puff the Magic Dragon Book & CDPuff the Magic Dragon Book & CD by Peter Yarrow

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I adored this song when I was a kid but has forgotten about it until I saw it from the bookstore last night. Without second thoughts, I grabbed myself a copy, excited to go home. My 5yo daughter heard the song for the first time and she loved it! a couple more rounds, she was able to sing along with me. The illustrations and phasing of the book just made the song even better. I barely remember the story and was heartbroken for Puff when Jack didn't come back. No exaggeration but I had goosebumps when I saw the page of a girl playing with Puff, turns out Jack didn't forget his dragon after all. He brought a new playmate for Puff, his own daughter, to Honalee.

We all grow up and busied ourselves with our jobs and daily-what-nots. This is a good reminder that we can always go back to a place like Honalee and use our imagination to revive ourselves.

Highly recommended.

Pacific Rims

I've been looking all over for this book. Always out of stock but I managed to get a copy at.. SM Dasma NBS :D I think people out here doesn't really like buying books that much. I got this one as a present for hubby. You see, books (or reading in general) are like sleeping pills for him. Even when he attempts to read FHM, expect him to drowse off after a couple of minutes. So it was a challenge to find a book that he'll be able to read from cover to cover. This book was highly recommended to PBA fans, so after reading a couple of pages from amazon, I started hunting for one. Currently, he's on page 18 and I'm keeping my fingers crossed ;)

Dani's Library

A book tag from Mhay

~ START COPY ~

Do you read books to your child?
I love to read when able, so even during my pregnancy sometimes I'd read out loud.

Does your child like to read books?
She reads from time to time whenever she gets tired of her cds.

Do you like to buy new books or is second-hand ok?
I like scouting good quality second-hand board books. It's more practical.

Latest brand new book we bought for her:
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Where's Pluto's Ball
Little Einstein: Melody the Music Pet

Latest second hand book she got::
Maisy Mouse: Where is Maisy?
Blues Clues: Blue's Big Birthday

Post a picture of your child's bookshelf if you have one.
I'll do this tomorrow ;)

Drop a line in this blog if you receive this tag and do it.

~ END COPY ~

When she started talking, tita candy would read her Moo, Baa, Lalala and she'll finish the sentences with the right animal sounds.
Tita Candy also bought her The Sunflower Parable and we'd read it to her every night before going to bed until Dani wised up and avoided the book if it means delaying her bedtime.
She also likes playing with the holes in The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It was only recently did she like to read Goodnight Moon but she never tires of Counting Kisses.

Here are some of her other books:
Where is Kermit going?
Just imagine with Barney
Count with Dora
What do you say
How do you feel

Can you keep a secret?

In my desperation to read a book (other than Eragon which I've yet to finish), I borrowed this chick-lit and just started reading this morning. I got through chapter 4 and figured this is a fun easy read, just exactly what I need. This will have to do until I get my hands on "stardust" I bought on ebay.ph (yey! my very first successful bid). Although, the total price i paid is P5 short of a brand new one (I blame the shipping cost of P140 for an air pouch bag from LBC), I just convinced myself that I saved myself some time (instead of meeting up with the buyer in Waltermart Makati or going back to nearby bookstores to check if the book is now in stock). Plus the fact that i got the original cover instead of the last one I saw that has claire danes on it.

Yesterday, my (is there another informal word for co-workers? ok i'll just call them F@W --FriendsAtWork-- *lol*) F@Ws had our lunch while watching Fred&Larry, though we wanted to finish this hilarious movie, we had to cut it short since we're only allowed 1hr break. I suddenly realized how I missed watching flick with friends and laugh at kababawan :D
