yes, its that time again when I and my superior will discuss my performance for the first semester. i haven't prepared my bala yet, truth to tell, I was as always, mediocre. i've attended a PM briefing the other day and we were asked:

are you an achiever?

am i? ever since i realized that promotion in this company is not as easy as compared to my last company, i stopped aspiring for it. or maybe motherhood got in the way. or maybe my heart was never really into corporate world. i've always wanted to be a sahm. i work because it was expected of me, i'm a college graduate. either you get a white collar job or you put up a business (of which i lack capital and i know i'll suck as a manager since i'm too nice). sadly, i work because i need to, not because i loved to.

although somewhere in my career, i believed i was helping people make their work easier. there is a sense of pride per production rollout. my babies.

somehow, i lost my purpose. it's all about the money. from payday to next. what to buy, how to pay. yuck, i sound materialistic.

in most evaluation, i get a high score in .. *tada* .. customer service! madali naman kasi ko talaga lapitan, basta wag lang akong busy hehe pero i hate deadlines, i really do. i hate estimating effort kasi i have no idea how long i can do/finish tasks minus distractions. pero i detest being the cause of bottlenecks. critical pa naman role ko, development can't start without my output. i hate documentation, it takes a lot of time for me to organize my thoughts.

and pressure does get to me, sometimes i snap back or slump or grouch or mop resulting to more delays and backlogs.

i long for positive feedback but i'm scared i wont get any, most specially from the higher up :( effort doesn't always cut it, timeliness and quality weighs more. at the end of the day it boils down to this question: do you deliver?

I do deliver, just not at the end of the day haha

excuses. excuses. excuses.

this is another wake up call.

Techie Me

For me to say that I'm a superb-highly analytical-document savvy-system analyst is overly ambitious. I wouldn't say that I a geeky-microsoft lover-polymorphed bill gates-test driven-advance programmer, err..software engineer (hehe) either.

But I do try.

Sometimes, best effort can only get you so far and still one will be measured based on successful timely delivery of a solution.

And that my dear is why I hate evaluation period.

Boss, if you're reading this, will you please kindly stop. Now!

I once admitted to be more of a nice likeable supportive employee rather than the uptight stressed out ones who get things done. I revisited the article, Competent Jerks and Lovable Fools, and maybe i'll try to send some anonymous survey to my peers and see what they think.

Currently, I'm feeling like a lovable fool. I'm gathering all my will power and aim to be the lovable star. Ahh.. to be challenged by oneself.

Boss is Satisfied

Commercial muna, we already had our year-end performance evaluation and yes, I received a satisfactory rating. My boss told me that I have hmm.. in his words pontential in my presentation skills. Sabi ko, e di magse-sales na lang pala ako haha. Oh well, we've yet to draft our objectives for the year so goodluck ulit sakin :D

Now, eh ano nman kung gnun ang rating ko?! It means more money!! This year kasi nagiba sila ng formula for computation of performance bonus, yey! I'd get 100% instead of the usual 60% of 3 months bonus (gross po ito, wish ko lang nett).

Ok, yung lang hilo ang lola mo sa compute-compute kung san ia-allocate ang incoming moolah :D

Money In, Money Out

Ayayay, the money I was expecting to come will be delayed so paktay na naman ang budget. Good news though as my blog got approved by blogitive, yey! :D So far I'm way behind my online tasks (to reach my goal of PR2 for this quarter). I've been busy dreaming of my travel escapades for the year but then hubby and I had a short talk (more like we discussed it in passing hehe) that we should SAVE this year.

Work aspect is not looking so bright as our companies are planning to physically relocate this year. If his company decided to relocate him in Alabang then all is well. However if they prefer to move in Libis area, tsk..tsk.. As for me, I feel as if I'm hanging on a balance scale. Though I do not love my work, I can live with it given my boss and my F@Ws pero naman super isolated yung area namin if ever.

Last working day for 2008

I cancelled my VL since I thought I will be able to accomplish some stuffs before the year ends. Morning i was able to catch up with some mails. Had a saisaki lunch buffet, a despidida of sorts for our of our BAs. Thanks to my dear friend, Olgs. We chatted the whole afternoon.

Not much luck.

I've read about this planner in paultoni's blog and eventually after office went to powerbooks greenbelt to buy one. Already I'm looking forward to try something different and use the free special waxing service coupon next year ;) Pray I'll be able to maximize whatever this planner has to offer ;)

Afterwards, we went to Rustans to look for something to buy for Dani. I have sodexho GCs which I can use there. Yun talaga intention ko, ang magamit na yung mga GCs bago ko pa makalimutan at magexpire (though dec08 pa expiration hihi). Can't wait for Dani to see her new stuffs. Will post photos soon once we're back home na. We'll be leaving tomorrow. I miss na rin our house and our privacy hihi. Before then I hope I'll be able to do your tags!

So I'm off to bed. I'm just glad work for 2007 has already ended.

Overtime

Still here at the office. Went back after my training. I didn't know it was moved again for today. Pumasok ako kasi nga may problem sa data pero got a text from a colleage na nasa training nga daw sila at bakit wala pa ko.

Hindi nman pwedeng iwan ko ang training at sayang naman binayad namin sa knila. Kaso pitfall is eto I have to wait until all data processing and batch jobs are done para maverify ko yung data. After this naman we're looking at generous bonus next year kasi daming production namin ngayon because of the P1 Equity Fund offer.

Hope we'll be done by 1AM and off I am to my mom's house to rest then report for training tomorrow. Haay..

An option for a corporate slave

Sometimes I volunteer designingkids party invitations, tags, tarpaulin, or guestbook layouts for some of my friends’ children parties. There’s just something about a babies faces that makes it easier for me to be inspired and come up with modest layouts. Maybe it’ll be an option for me to offer my services for a minimal fee once I’ve had enough of corporate life. I will still do it for my friends for free though :D We’ll see.

Equity Fund available soon

Our company just released a memo about a new fund type that will soon be available to our clients. I really am interested to get one for dani and avail something like a payday loan offered to employees. What’s good about the said special loan, it’s payable in 12 months at no interest. It’s like forced investment on my part and a win-win situation for both parties.

yey, i passed! :D i was praying for at least a pasang-awa score so imagine my surprise upon reading my mail :D it will cost me P3.5k to retake the said exam pero naka-allocate yan sa coming bonus kasi nga baka bumagsak ako. i was stuck at chapter 6 since last year tapos three days before my exam date dun lang ako nakapagbasa ulit ng book but i made sure that i finished the exam prep test na napulot ko and understood the concept of the questions. lucky me, about 75 percent of the questions are similar to the exam prep test i have with me. it's not exactly kodigo ha, mind you, baka yun ang iniisip nyo, hmp! :p oh well, one down, one more to go this November, yaiks!
