Seven: Best Birthday Ever

So she keeps telling everyone :D We opted for a family day, an outing of some sorts to celebrate her birthday.


We rented a bus - bet way to transport 19 adults and 8 kids in one go!


Nobody wanted to take pictures, everyone is busy eating or swimming.  Most important thing is everybody had fun.

K: Pretty, I don't have a gift for you today, is that ok?
D: It's ok mommy.  It can be delayed.

ASMEPPS 2013

The little girl was chosen to represent Grade 1 in the Mathematics category.  She was able to qualify in the top 20 (out of 34+) after the first round.  Though she was not able to bring home a medal that day, we are proud of her for doing well and for such being a good sport.

So I promised the little girl a party with her classmates for her 6th birthday. Surprise, surprise.  Days before the school year officially start, I found out they are 29 in class.  Thanks to K-12, incoming prep was merged with incoming Grade 1 if the student meets the required age requirement.

Managed to finish these, thanks to my long weekend.  I was planning to do some work but maybe my subconscious purposely left my power cable so I can do these for the little girl.

Art Session: Self-Portrait

Classes are bound to resume on January 3. Until then, we have all the time in the world. Vacation. The possibilities are endless. However.. the budget is limited haha. Which is kind of challenging lest we just sit and bum in front of the tube the whole day. Not ideal.

In preparation for our long trip this friday, the husband upgraded the memory of the little girl's phone.  He figured she can listen to her tracks while we are on board or whenever applicable.  On the other hand, it is my task to load it up with her past and recent favorite songs.  As you can see, I'm digging the archives at the same time so expect some historical photos soon ;)

We see them everywhere and we can only resist for so long :D The little girl went home today with her doodles of the birds. Gave me an idea for a new paper craft.  Then again, we're running low on colored ink *sigh*

My sponsors are prolly wondering what's up in the land of Ooo. Just the other night I witness my cousin become a lady. Previously she just came from the printing press (the kind that prints Checkerboard Invitations and the likes at Recto) and showed me her invites.  It was a night with a bit of family drama on the side. Teenagers on natural high with Super Bass on the background :) Several tunes after, the singer was doing a cover of Lady G's Born this way.

My little girl went to my aunt and told her she wanted to dance to the same song. Much obliged, my aunt asked the emcee to announce a short dance number from the little girl. Among family and strangers, never self-conscious, she amazingly expresses her self.

I am stunned. Where did she get that self-confidence I wonder.

Has it really been five years (and a half) already? :D

For the past five years, we hadn't had any problem with the little girl's teeth. Early last year, the little girl had her first dental checkup at her school. Before 2010 ended, she had her first filling for her left upper molar. Not sure if they stock on wholesale dental supplies but we are set on having future dental appointments here. Provided, of course, if their excellent service is maintained :D the clinic is well lighted, colors are child-friendly and fees are same (if not a tad lower) than other clinics in the same mall :)

"We did art today, mommy", the little girl announced as she zoomed to me in the kitchen. I just said, "Great!", as I intend to focus on making a decent lunch for us.

Later, I asked her the details of her artwork. She said, "We colored Daniel's friends and they were thrown in the fire.", all the while making exaggerated arm gestures. I asked her what happened to them, to which she answered, "They did not burn, God protected them."

Sometimes, I think Bible stories are too morbid :p

School ID Preparatory

The little girl went home with her school ID today. I didn't know their photo session schedule and turns out it was the day I sent her to school donning a headband. Normally I take considerable pains in twisting her hair into all sorts much like O Hani's. Oh well, not much I can do about it now.

Favorite Subject

Math. Apparently, she likes to count. We have just finished reviewing for her exams tomorrow. Now if only I can find worksheet for Filipino..

The Impatient Patient

Or should I say too excited customer hehe Dra Angel brushed her teeth, scrubbed off yellowish stuffs which I guess turns to tartar if left alone for too long. Put the sealant for the last tooth and retouched one molar. All done in half an hour more or less.
The dentist noticed her tattoo and asked TLG to bring her one on her next visit, which is on october. Damage: P500.

Bangs

Gave the little girl bangs to trim dry ends causing her tangles. Many have been paying compliments on Dani's soft wavy hair, so we're keeping it long. I just tweaked it a bit just like last year :)

I think she got all that hair from our side of the family. I hope when she gets older, she wouldn't have to worry about unwanted hair like as if she's on testosterone gel or something.

Anyways, she came back from school the other day and she said her teacher likes her hair. I'm glad nobody in her school teased her about it. One thing I love about her class, I don't see any bullies who will give my little a hard time in school.

My little girl turned a little year older yesterday.



"I wish to love you and daddy forever and ever."

I hadn't had the chance to ask her what her wish mean. I'll take it as it is.



Together with our relatives, we happily celebrated her birthday with a simple swimming party.



The kids just played around and swam all day.



No grandiose plans, no fancy balloon decors. Still, hubby and I are both dead tired. At the end of the day, the little girl was happy. Well, happy kinda sad when everyone was bidding goodbye.



Every night she'd pray for good weather and He graciously answered. That night, she thanked Him. Silently, I thanked Him for my little girl.

Dani has 8 writing sheets to do over the weekend and we've manage to finish half of them before bedtime. I got her report card from school and teacher told me she's bright indeed but needs to practice writing more. Understandably she's still too young, teacher is just telling me that for now writing her nickname will do. However, for next year they will be writing their fullname already. Imagine she'll be writing 24 letters *sigh*

I have a short name, I can even afford to write my middle name, but I do pity my child. It's either I give her a super unique hard to pronounce name or give her two first name. Pretty, if someday you read this, I'm sorry for giving you a hard time writing your name.

Anyway, Baby bear made quite a contribution in Dani's assignment. She made it more fun for Dani as she's supposed to learn writing from her and the little one was more than glad to do so. Obviously this teddy wouldn't be needing the best hair loss treatment, he is as fuzzy as we want him to be :D

Anyways, sunday, Dani hadnt had her afternoon nap yet, so imagine her tactically not requesting for her dede (as she needs to lie down and she might fall asleep while finishing her dede) so she made do with crackers, raisins and even asked for a peanut sandwhich except her dede. What we did was we took off her bathing suit, she's too sleepy to protest, loudly cried nonetheless, and sent her home. Minutes later, she fell asleep.

First thing she said when she woke up, her eyes barely open:

I want to swim!

Contemplating on enrolling her in a swimming class for the summer. Sana meron akong makitang malapit. I'll have to check their safety equipment though so better kung mismo dito samin though I know mas mahal unless may kasabay sya. I'm thinking din if I should buy the swim board I saw yesterday. First things first though, kelangan ko nang bumili ulit ng sunblock!

Dani at 30 months

1. dani at 2y6m, 2. happy smile, 3. dani at 2y6m

She's really a talker now :D Although we sometimes have our own vocabulary (as others just can't decode what she's saying), we understand her 90% most of the time :) She has a new Jollibee cd handed to her by her cousin and she's learning english and tagalog words from there. Sometimes she'll mix the two in a sentence like: I'm kumot my hands hehe

Her statistics:
Waist - 25"
Chest - 24"
Height - 36" (and a couple of centimeters or so)
Weight - 40 lbs



I'm contemplating on giving her a second hair cut but I just love her curls. We'll just have to use conditioner once a week maybe :)

She's so malambing pa rin and I get unexpected hugs and kisses from her.



She now has 13 pearly whites :) Her upper and lower canine has just erupted but are only about 10% visible. Sometimes she doesn't want to brush but I think its just one of her attempts trying to see if she's the one in charge now. In such cases, I just rub her gums and teeth with cloth or cotton buds :)

Scared of you

Despite busy schedule and deadlines, our company's EWC managed to pull off an early Trick or Treat event for our kids yesterday.

Buti na lang nakisabay kami papasok kundi mas maaga pa kami dadating sa office. So umaga pa lang nanggugulo na anak ko hehe

She was everywhere. Nagustuhan nya yung sofa sa lounge area ng Office of the President. Buti na lang wala pang tao :D

Ok din ang maaga kasi may photo opps agad :D naka-mood pa

We brought with us her DVD Player so sinetup ko malapit sa table ko which made her sit still.. for a while until ikot na naman. By 10am she requested na for milk and I know she's sleepy na rin. Our VP previously gave a go signal that we can use his room for whatever reason while he's gone. So dun pumwesto ang anak ko for her morning nap :) It was almost 1pm when she woke up.

The other night, napuyat ako sa pagbabalot ng treats. Gusto ko kasi may iabot si dani sa ibang kids to serve na rin as ice breaker :) She made lots of friends, kids and adults kasi dami rin natutuwa lagi syang nakasmile :D

Sakit ng katawan ko ngayon kasi nagpabuhat sya the whole afternoon. We also need to visit the other building eh if we want to get treats from other department. Ok din ang decors ng iba, mostly nakakatakot :D Buti na lang hindi masyado natakot si Dani kahit na madilim sa ibang areas.
Dani doesn't have any of Clifford's books yet kaya hindi pa nya sya kilala. Pero ok lang, tuwa pa rin sya sa mascot.

They also gave a short Jollibee party for the kids at syempre andun si Jollibee. I don't have my cam with me na kasi nga buhay ko si dani while ate glenn naman is holding her treats and other stuffs. Will try to get a copy from the others tapos post ko dito pics nya :D

We just waited for hubby to pick us up. While waiting, dani saw this christmas tree at the lobby, hindi ko napansin nakapag-setup na pala sila. She loves to ride the escalator so pumayag lang ako twice and then I told her its enough na. Buti dumating na rin si hubby kundi maglilikot pa yun talaga.

The sky is starting to clear up as I write so sana hindi kami ulanin pag naglibot mya. My daughter's eyes literally lit up when she sees treats and candies, kakatuwa. Ok lang naman to let her eat sweet stuffs today, minsan lang naman eh ;) Malamang repeat ang costume nya hehe unless she prefers the crab hat :D

Overall, happy na ko she got to wear a costume for her first trick or treat experience :D

Weekend Photo: My First Airplane Ride

It was my first time to hop on the airplane ride. Buti na lang ate gerah was with me. My parents were half-worried half-excited, I can tell by their face. The ride started, I was smiling and waving hello as I pass by them. Turn after turn, fun's starting to fade and I just wanted the ride to stop. I cried as the operator didn't stop the ride immediately. So much for my first ride. -- Dani
