Ginisang Upo Recipe

4pcs garlic cloves
1pc onion medium
2pcs tomatoes medium
7pcs shrimps medium
1/2 of 16inches upo
1/2 pack misua small

Saute garlic, onion and tomatoes. Add shrimps. Add upo with water (just enough till the upo floats hehe). Add misua. If to When upo is almost translucent, turn off stove. I let it sit for a few minutes for the remaining heat to cook the upo before I serve :D

Kangkong Fritters and Shrimp Rebosado

I was able to convince the little girl to try the fritters. Para lang yang chichiria, I said.
With the shrimps, no prodding necessary. It's one of her favorites. We had sweet ripe mangoes for dessert.
Love, sorry sinigang pa rin dinner natin mya hehe

French Toast for Breakfast

I felt kind of guilty as I indulge myself with this plate. Hubby had the Century Tuna Hotdog with Rice. I was only able to whip this after the little girl went to school. She on the other hand stuffed herself with munchkins.

Chicken and Potato Salad

Side dish for you, Main Entree for me. We bought a pack of baby potatoes for TLG's Nutrition Day. She's supposed to bring the smallest potato, biggest tomato, longest eggplant and biggest watermelon. The latter we didn't bother to buy anymore. On my way home, I was able to scout candidates from The Landmark grocery. So, here we are with these potatoes. What to do, what to do?

I usually toss them in the pan with butter, cheese spread and bacon. I'm trying to minimize meat from our menu so no bacon around. Yesterday, I've boiled and pureed some together with pumpkin to make a hearty soup. For today, I mixed it up with the leftover chicken spread I made this morning. Instant lunch for me! Meanwhile, TLG settled for deep-fried-half-burned tilapia with crab and corn soup (instant). All these while searching for single premium immediate annuity quotes.

Creamy Chicken and Shrimp with Veggies

I squeezed a little dayap on the chicken and shrimp. Seasoned with salt and pepper.
Though I'm supposed to limit my dairy intake, the little girl likes this dish.

I didn't plan the little girls party like I used to. As the day progressed, I feel like she still needs to make her birthday wish. Obviously, that requires candles on a something we call a cake.

Budget and time constraints, I figured I can pull it off with the ingredients above. Sans the candy sprinkles, choco chips etc (I forgot), I came up with this instead and everybody happy!

Grilled Kalbi with Veggies

Nanay happily tagged along with my parents from Batangas to our house. Within minutes from stepping inside from the day's heat, Nanay's tears began to flow. She said since her Apos are too busy to see her she came and visited us instead. It saddens my heart really, I wished to see them often. I barely get to see my parents, it's a good thing they're still up to the long drive to and fro manila just so they can hug and kiss the little girl.

I miss Mamay also, I wish to visit him soon. I bet it's like getting the best fathers day gifts 2011 for dad. We didn't get to talk to him longer last time I called, I'm pushing back negative vibes, maybe he's just not in a mood for chitchat that time.

Back to happy thoughts. I cooked us tempura and kariagi/e along with this dish. Wish I had some miso and soft tofu in a warm soup for our tummy. They said, I did well, himnaeyo!

Beef with Corn and Shitake Mushroom

Whipped this pasta dish for lunch. Contemplating whether to pursue with Spicy Sardines in Pesto but I remembered feeding Dani a meatless version yesterday, so I went for this one instead. I have leftover steak from Saturday cook-out so I shredded the meat, sliced some mushroom, threw in some kernels in a mixture of butter, two teaspoons of chiz whiz and a squirt of fresh milk. Seasoned with pepper, waited for the pasta to absorb the liquid. All done in 15mins tops.

The little girl is napping, still tired I bet and wouldn't have cared even if she were sleeping on cabin beds. I expect her to be up in a short while as she aims to make the most of what is left from my leave today and play.

Pineapple Custard Turnover Experiment #1

Watching Australia's Junior Master Chef got me inspired to create my own version of Pineapple Custard Turnover. Never mind the color but it tasted close enough to my Apo's version. I must say, it is a lot of work. Took half of my day actually. At least the next time I get a craving for this kakanin, I know how to make one already :D

I'm not sure what the future holds for me but maybe I can improve and it'll be another alternative than providing business card printing services online, ne?

Salmon Steak + Veggies

Salmon Steak + Veggies

Though I prefer the fish as sashimi, I also enjoy it when cooked with sour miso soup or grilled or pan fried with veggies. My suki from the market sells them fresh and slices them up with sharp spyderco spyderhawk knives, careful not to violate the pinkish flesh any further. Which reminds me, I may have to cook this dish later for dinner.

From real tomatoes

From real tomatoes
Originally uploaded by kitakitts

I forgot to blog about the pasta sauce I made a few weeks back. One of our neighbors harvested their tomatoes and was selling probably more than 1/4 of kilo for less than P20. Hubby asked me what I am up to and I told him to just wait.

I googled, "How to peel whole tomatoes" and though I did not follow the steps as is, minutes later, red plump skinless (seedless) tomatoes are at my blender's mercy.

Simmered with garlic and mushroom and generously flavored with basic leaves, the end result was indeed better than instant pasta sauce. I am more than proud to serve my thick rich sauce on top of spinach fettuccine.

Easy peasy ;)

As an afterthought, maybe real tomatoes are good alternative for adipex.. but don't take my word for it ;)
