Some days I wish I'm still single

somedays like today. it's not the first time i passed on availing free premier tickets. Up for grabs tonight are tickets for "The Invasion".

Not that I was looking forward to the movie but i just hate missing free stuffs. That's free entertainment, free food and sometimes when you're lucky you get to take home some freebies.

i can't go plainly because i have to go home early. I know some of you will probably tell me, I'll feel better once I'm home with my dani cuddled in our bed. I'm just saying, today I envy my single workmates and I want sana to go but this will have to be in my "sacrifice" list.

Too much online shopping

As I was contemplating my lunch, the guy taking my order from the counter asked me:

"For dine-in, mam?"

Absent-mindedly, I replied:

"For check out."

in lieu of flashcards

Taps4Less - Online Tap Shop

Gone are the days when sinks and faucets are just your ordinary and boring bathroom fixtures. Taps4Less is an online tap shop where you can effortless buy such items offering you a wide variety of choices. Depending on the theme of your bathroom from the classic to minimalist style, somewhere among the Taps, there is one that would interest you.

As for me, I wouldn't mind dipping myself everyday in this one:

Good news to residents of UK Mainland, they offer delivery absolutely FREE of charge :) They accept major credit cards. One advantage of buying from the site is that one can avail of their financing scheme for staggered payments for as long as 36 months in selected items.

A little inspiration

Karl Moore is actually one of the world’s top developers and highly synonymous with .NET, having been awarded Microsoft’s MVP award not only once but thrice. I recently started visiting Karl's blog for some thoughtful inspiration and sincere, if not at time humorous insights on our daily life. You get to listen to some of his favorite music aired in SaxFM. Interesting enough are his Friday Factoids, from trivial notes on famous literature writers to Flintstones to vending machines.

Monday Posts usually consist of suggestions for Random Act of Kindness. He also encourages his readers to share their RAK in his forum. I have to say, there’s more to this man’s brain than programming.

Supposedly another long weekend

but i'm currently here at work, doing overtime but with Pay naman. I just shopped some shorts to add to the polo shirts i bought yesterday. One polo shirt costed P179.95 while shorts are sold at P209.95 each in landmark :) I don't really buy expensive clothes nowadays. Kahit kasi mahal at matibay, nasisira pa rin like baka malagyan ng bleach accidentally or mapunit, so sayang din. Yun nga lang some cheap clothes are like disposables nga talaga, onting suot pa lang it'll show wear and tear na agad. Next agenda would be to find affordable footwear, currently debating if i'll buy cheap korean ones (usually P250-300) or buy branded ones (not lower than P400).

* * *

ay i forgot to blog nga pala, i watched "Transformers" kagabi. Man, my heart was pumping hard anticipating every scene! I love it and I love bumblebee, kahit noon pa :)

Slow drive

what would normally take us a whooping hour drive back home has now turn into three to four gruelling hours. i think this will continue until road construcion in slex is finished. i'm not really that affected since most of the time i just sleep and drool through traffic. wawa lang si hubby kasi nangangalay na talaga sya at napapagod magdrive.

anyways, what to do, what to do.. hmm.. i never did like computing or reading anything whenever on the road. Nahihilo na kasi ako so I content myself with listening and singing along with the radio.that is if im not sleeping already hehe however since we are moving at a snail's pace and my lids are not shutting down on their own then might as well pass the time by drafting an entry for tomorrow's post :D

as of the moment, hubby switched the dial to am radio and started to listen half-heartedly to a program on health and fitness. having heard a couple of sucessful testimonials, i'm contemplating on buying fitrum capsules to supplement my diet. or maybe I should consider xando instead? hmm.. am really starting to get depressed here on the extra 20lbs i've yet to lose. ok i'll stop, i'll take it one run at a time :D

I want, i want, i want

for my baby :)

I heart my heart

kaya nga i "try" to watch what I eat and exercise as much as I can :) we had a free cholesterol test today and mine's at 184 mg/dl, normal would be at 250 mg/dl and below :) yey!

tara, dampa tayo hehe :D

I did an entry para sa mga misis, na sana lang ay magreflect pero if you want to read, subscribe to their feed andun sya i checked :)

note to self: similar to the jukebox entry to remind myself of music memories, I will do something about my favorite movies :)

A Walk in the Parque

I fancy myself strolling under the lofty trees, hubby’s hand in mine, in the middle of Parque del Retiro on a beautiful Saturday morning. After tiring myself, I might just find a nook to sit around with a good book in hand, catching a glimpse of the rose garden in the corner of my eyes. He on the other hand, with my permission, can go babe-watching in the nearest beach just as long as he remains watching, nothing more.

Remember when Shan Cai and Dao Ming Si went to Barcelona in the second season of Meteor Garden? There was this scene where they lost each other in the Parcguell. I wouldn’t dare miss that place, it has “masterpiece” written all over it.

Parcguell

Meanwhile, Madrid is home to high peaks and dense slopes of Sierra de Guadarrama. For nature lovers, you will surely love the picturesque view and be revived by fresh air smelling of pines and oak trees.

Both cities have booming night life of you prefer partying until the wee hours of the morning. There are tons or sculpture and modern architecture which are postcard perfect, one can capture and bring home with. Not to mention huge museums which hosts some of the finest art collections in the world.

So time to save up, plan for our trip to this cities and find affordable Hotels in Madrid and Hotels in Barcelona.

Human Jukebox

When I was in grade school we lived in an apartment across an eatery that's open for 24hrs. At night their jukebox will often play 80's song like "Lost in your eyes" by Debbie Gibson or "Eternal Flame" by Bangles. I even tried picking a song once and remembered how nervous I was and might not be able to choose the song I wanted.

Here's a random list of songs and the people who spring into my mind the moment I hear them.

A01 - Once in a Lifetime - Bards and Joy
B02 - I don't have the heart : Peobo Bryson (?) - a summer crush in my teens.
C03 - The Gift : Jim Brickman - Kers and Jona
D04 - Angelina : PSY - Faithy
E05 - I've been waiting for you : Faithy & Jasmin
F06 - I'll be there for you : Bon Jovi - Te Jops and ex (forgot the name)
G07 - I Think We're Alone Now : Tiffany - Mark, grade 6 summer crush.
H08 - Next in Line - Minnie's Father
I09 - For my love will see me through - Dad
J10 - Pocahontas Theme - Mami, reason behind this one's funny hehe
K11 - My Girl : The Temptations - Dani
L12 - Leader of the Band - Garry
M13 - The Octopus Garden - Keng & Vince
N14 - Sleepwalk (Instrumental) - Keng
O15 - Two Occassions - Bane
P16 - Stay The Same - Keds

* * *

I can't believe I came up with such a short list. I swear every time I hear a familiar song, there's always something there in my memory bank to associate it with. Maybe I'm too distracted right now. I'll keep this in my side bar and add more as I go along.

For your peace of mind

Have any of you ever considered purchasing medical travel insurance? You might not remember my post about our upcoming vacation trip. I don’t want to entertain morbid thoughts but I don’t really want anything to happen to me and hubby while where there.

Out of curiosity, I checked out this travel insurance site and got an online quote in seconds. For £52.39 (about PHP3.3K) Hubby and I have a worldwide travel coverage (excluding USA, I was assuming to travel Asia initially) with a Personal Accident benefit amounting to £15,000 (about PHP939K). Also we will get something should we experience delay in our trip, which we normally suffer when flying in Philippine Airlines. Imagine unexpectedly on your way to the airport you got caught in traffic and missed your departure. As consolation you will still get something of monetary value other than the saying “charge it to experience”. I find it cool that even pets are covered!

I do think that sports extremist and jetsetters will get the most out of these kind of products. I wonder if there’s already a local insurance product catered for travelers. I’ll do some more research and will let you know when I found one.

Meme : 8 Random Facts

This one is different though as before you can even start, you have to read the list of rules so you can abide by them.

You share 8 things that your readers don't know about you then at the end, tag 8 other bloggers to keep the fun going. Each blogger must post these rules first.
Each blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
At the end of the post, a blogger needs to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

** I have to say, this is like the 7 random facts meme hehe

* I have and probably will always have wavy hair. I had it relaxed a month before dani's 1st birthday. I would have preferred milk rebonding but due to limited budget, I made do with this.

* I started running again just recently. In order to attain my ideal weight, I finally got myself to walk-jog-run 2KM+, three times a week at night after coming home from office.

* I love crabs but I yearn for lobsters.

* I haven't had my armpits waxed or "cleaned" ever.. by someone else other than me. Call me timid, but I just don't want someone up close and personal with my underarms hehe. Last I heard though through my friend who makes it a regular visit to a salon for such service, P200 was all worth it, stiff neck and ngalay free!

* My heart is starting to weaken on horror and scary stuffs. I've noticed that as I get older, I'm beginning to avoid such flicks whereas they were my favorites before. I think I got it from my dad :)

* I have two missing molars already. One on the upper left jaw and the other at the bottom right jaw. Finding it hard to chew meat nowadays and my bite is askew :(

* I'm an expert procrastinator. Ask hubby, he should know by now *lol*

* I have profusely sweaty palms especially when I put lotion or any mosturizer on them, add mo pa humidity. It's quite embarrasing really lalo na when you're introduced with someone and you have to shake his hand or pag kakanta na ng "Ama Namin" and you'll have to hold the hand of the person next to you diba? I keep forgetting pa naman to bring a hanky ;p

so there's my 8 random facts. I'll tag 8 people in a while..

Yazii Storage Solutions

Step into our house, you'll see clutter. Peek into my bag and you'll see clutter. Open my pedestal, don't be surprised to see clutter. I think I need something like this travelling wallet:

size is only 10x5.5inches and has four see-through pockets to hold my jewelries and toiletries. They also offer other Jewelery Storage options in their site.

For scrapbookers, delight yourself with this punch craft tote:

I hope they could provide more description in their shoe bag item. It would be great if it’s water and moist proof to prevent molds from creeping in.

I love the fun polka dots design and vibrant colors in this Baby throw.

They also have two trendy stripes colors to choose from. All is claimed to be machine washable and lightweight.

The site allows the following purchasing method: direct deposit or credit card payment, money orders or cheques. Should you wish to buy in bulk, they also provide wholesale prices. They have other designs and fabrics to choose from but I prefer cotton fabric and colorful patterns.

Baby annoucement booboo

As part of the Employee Welfare Committee in our company, I am assigned to send out Baby Annoucements. Every now and then, when employees send us pictures of their new born baby, I basically create an email indicating the fullname, nickname, birthdate and parents of the said baby to everyone.

The thing is my boss' wife recently gave birth and to my excitement I immediately sent out an email of his baby's photo. However, I have one pending baby photo beforehand and noted to send it out next. As expected, the mother of the said baby reacted, cc'd my group, as follows:

Kitts

I wonder when you will ever announce my baby. Actually, I didn't want to but J insisted that I give a photo. So I did but nothing has happened. Anyway, if you don't feel like it, never mind.

Ms. L

Admittedly the photo was sent to me last July 25 but hadn't gotten around to do the layout. Let's just say I wasn't that inspired to do so. I received phone calls asking me if i've read the mail while i am getting irate by the minute. Anyways, I didn't offer her any excuse, whipped and sent the layout in matter of minutes then sent a separate mail deeply apologising for the late announcement. It doesn't end there though, she emailed me the correct spelling of her daughter's mail. You see, I just used whatever info J previously gave to me. Now, I don't really want to clog everybody's mail but for her satisfaction, our chairperson decided that I resend the mail with the correct name.

What a way to start my day.

anyway, here's the simple LO i did for her.

Oftentimes, I get a few praises here and there and that more than makes up for the effort i put on these annoucement alongside my current workload.

Smorty

For anyone who wants to get paid to blog, I encourage you to sign up at smorty. One good about them is their weekly payout, yey! Their website is very light, no fancy graphics resulting to fast page upload. Also, you can easly login and their pages are user friendly. In one blog advertising company, I have to grab the opportunity immediately and post an entry at the same time, lest I want it to disappear. While with smorty, I can accept a task and can compose my entry within the allowed timeframe of 72hrs, not bad indeed. I think it’s cool that their website’s main color, which is green, is quite symbolic for green is the color of money. Now if only I can get my paypal account working, since I have a payment coming. Yes, that soon. I’ve have just signed up two weeks ago and I’m suppressing my excitement here for this will be my first earning online. If payment comes through then I’m all for it. I’ll update you soon.

To blog or not to blog, that is the question.

Ever since I have known what a secret diary is, I have always had one with me. Though I wasn’t able to keep any in my twenty-nine years of existence, I just kept writing. There is really no pattern in the way I write, given the fact that I am no nobel prize material. Nor sooner will I write anything that can save the world or finally bring peace to men. Mostly, I just write whatever using my native tongue or my in much-needed polishing English. Quite frankly, the one time my blog got nominated somewhere amongst others much more qualified, came to me as outmost flattery even if it was meant to be a prank or not, which I’d like to believe is the latter.

Maybe it be in paper or through the web, all this time, I just kept on writing.

First, I write for myself because I find it therapeutic. It forces me to think and reflect on whatever is currently occupying my mind. Moreover, it helps me recall things that are relevant to me whenever my memory fails me. Maybe someday, if I find the time, then I can look back and say I did exist and live.

Next, I write for my children and grandchildren. Provided that blogger won’t shutdown me down or I will be able to buy my own space sometime soon (with all the opportunities I have been frantically grabbing), then my thoughts are for them to read and pass on to the next generation. That they may bring me up during family gatherings and discuss my silly thoughts and my oh-so-philosophical outlook in life.

Finally, I write for you. I never really thought about the impact of exposing myself to you for I tend to easily dismiss negative thoughts (and still believe that man by nature is good therefore deserves the benefit of the doubt and initially can be trusted). Just so you can learn from me, cry with me and laugh with me.

I fear to be forgotten. I blog because I do not want to forget who I was, who I am and who I wanted to be. I blog to be remembered. I blog to share myself, if you will have me, with paid post or not.
