can you deliver?

a month ago, i was given the authority to interview and select project-based prospects to be included in our project team. after much deliberation we've settled to whom we'll call Uma.

To make the long story short, a week has passed and he seemed qualified for the position he's been hired to. And he should be coz i chose him right?! hmm.. i think i should keep my eye on him. I'm not the kind of person who's bossy because I for one do not want to be bossed around. My working attitude is: give me my tasks, I'll do it and inform you as soon as I've finished them. I have the initiative to report back and update my immediate superior whatever progress I have made. As a leader, I do not breathe on the back of the neck of my team members. I give them ample space and wait for their feedback. I trust that they give all their best in their work and do not need to be "QA'd" all the time.

What irks me though, is that you tell me that your task is 'done' and yet when i check up on it, its half-baked. Not all of the functions are there, lack of validations, and you tell me you do OOP and yet your code is directly in your UI?! and that my friend, is the type Uma is becoming. Geez, we're paying him P49K a month (well let say that he gets P38K net). For him, he's on track since he's 'done' with his scheduled task, tpos i'll find out that its not 100% done kasi nga may kulang pa. Parang bitin palagi, wala mang lang akong nakikitang extra effort or added value sa work nya.

I will give still give him chance to redeem himself. If not, tsk.. bring on the mean machine..
