Boo to Zoo

I hate to see them caged but there's no other way I can see the animals lest my family and I go on a safari ;p goodluck kung makita namin lahat ng animals dun diba :p i fancy the thought sometimes, it would be a great adventure but the chances of that trip happening is far fro possible. now don't go telling me to go to zoobic ;p its quite close to the real thing but not quite the same thing. if you know what i mean ;)

anyways, i wont go into animal rights and how we humans violate them or go rallying for shutting down of zoos or shows. personally, its ok to put up a zoo for business but with consideration to the animals' welfare. now as for shows, i can manage not to see animals doing their human-like tricks ;)

on to the ark avilon snake biting issue. an email has be forwarded to n@w group warning the members of the incident. I haven't really researched on the details yet. Was it an albino snake that did the biting or the red, black & white thin stripped snake shown in GMA news? I wasn't paying attention to the news as we we're trying to put dani to bed.

Initially I thought that it was a 2yo child that was bitten but it was a 17yo teenager. Though some may argue that that fact wouldn't matter much kasi a person still got bitten. Pero I guess if it had been a toddler, mas nakakawa as compared sa teenager hehe. I understand if it was my teenager, I as a parent might react the same way. Not that I would go public hehe maybe post it on my blog and rant ;)

anyways, kaya naman kasi ko affected was because we just recently went there and dani and her cousin zach had fun seeing all those animals, including the snake and a photo opp with the snake. garry and my sister handled the albino snake and i remember the caretaker giving us pointers as to how to handle the snake properly as he gently began putting the snake on hubby's shoulders. of course i'm glad the biting incident did not happen to us then. whatever happened between the snake and the teenager is an accident and who knows what and how things went wrong. it was after all an accident and to totally prevent it from happening again is by putting the snake on a cage instead or close down the zoo all together.

But where's the fun in that?

moving forward, i do agree that the zoo should have an attended clinic much less a first aid kit for such mishaps. should the zoo be shut down by local government until then? hmm. i dont know. would you go into a zoo without proper facilities? its your risk. we took it unknowlingly, i guess we're just too eager to see the animals.
