Little Prince of Oz

Friday, I saw The Little Prince cd at AstroKids MOA and watched it yesterday.  The little girl was a bit sad when SPOILER ALERT.. the little prince died.  To lighten up the mood, I pulled out The Wizard of Oz cd. Later we went to L's house and while the kids were busy with whatever, the adults were chatting about parenting and life trying not to get drunk while doing so :D

Long weekend is over.  It's sunny now as compared to the misty morning we had earlier.  Should I go out? hmm..

Read the book and I still have some of the songs in my playlist though I only recognized Asleep. I was expecting a different tunnel song, Von Ray Vapour Trail and the dance song, whiter shade of pale.. hmm.. Cho-cho-lesterol Challenge

About three years ago, I was three counts short from being a High-Risk candidate of Heart Disease. I didn't take the results at heart and ate with no conscience. Last week, the inevitable happened. Consequently, results showed an increase I can no longer ignore. Found myself "reviewing" about bad and good cholesterol and whatever is good for the heart. However, before I overwhelm myself with too much info, I guess it's best to start with substituting oatmeal for breakfast (or at least one meal a day). Matra: Less meat, more fiber. and maybe some brisk walking everyday --while window-shopping perhaps harhar ;)

We were able to pull off a Cat Girl costume for her bestfriend's birthday party last Saturday. She used the leotards for this year's Buwan ng Wika.

Earlier that day, I already drafted a mask at home. Luckily, we saw the cat shades at NBS, bought the belt at SM Ladies accessories section. Somehow, it all came together. She did not want to take it off even when the party was over :D

So I said in my letter, that I have struggled at it for the past five months. Seemed like I have already endured five years worth of stress. To think that I didn't bargain for a higher pay for this job.

Pampalubag loob, having been exposed to various levels and nationality has definitely been an enlightening experience for me :D

In the end, I chose my family. I hope I will not pay dearly for this decision.

Grade 1 danced to Dayang, dayang (?), it was a riot to see all 31 of them on stage.

Up until now, I haven't memorized who is who among her classmates.

When I look at her, I often wonder if I should blog the things she say to me knowing she'll stumble upon my posts about her sometime soon .. wondering which one she'll pester me to put down :P

Animal Jam

Hubby bought an Almanac 2012 by National Geographic Kids and the little has been browsing the book every now and then. She has been asking me to go Animal Jam website which I admittedly had not seen in the book yet. Anyway, while I was half-asleep, she asked me my email address and little did I know she was already signing up from the website. It was a great avenue for kids to explore and learn about animals :D Something different from Moshi Monster or Pixiehollow.

Both bunnies are doing well. Sometimes at daytime, we let them loose. They'd run around and feed themselves with whatever grass and plants available. Yesterday, we thought we lost Coco. He was missing for quite some time and the little girl cried a little for fear of losing the little creature.

He was just playing hide and seek with us. Found him amongst our neighbor's clutter :D

A red-haired freckled girl who prefers Lake of Shining Waters over Barry's Pond. Will ask the little girl to rate this book because I was only able to read half of it to her and her dad glady took over the rest. The chapter plots was easy enough for her to tell them to me.

After reading several chapter books, the little girl decided to go back to her other books. This book broke that "chapter book fatigue" and so we're back to novels again.

Pink Tuna Maki

I had a long weekend, was able to prepare the little girl's monday lunch.  Go search for cute bento lunch boxes for kids and you know what I was aiming for.  Hey, this is not much but it's a start :D  Dani was actually excited to bring and eat this at school.  Returned empty when she got home.  Success!

I used beets to add color to the rice, squashed tuna in the middle.  Bonus cheese cubes, her favorite.  Saw these cute food cutters I bought from japanese stores.  Hopefully, I can make use of them some more.

It's Birthday Time with Finn and Jake

So I promised the little girl a party with her classmates for her 6th birthday. Surprise, surprise.  Days before the school year officially start, I found out they are 29 in class.  Thanks to K-12, incoming prep was merged with incoming Grade 1 if the student meets the required age requirement.

Another one butted in and said, "You mean seed, right?"

Yup.. my translation was so literal. I swear, I could've died of embarrassment.

Review: Charlotte's Web

A light story that touches on concept of circle of life, friendship, a little bit on parenting and growing up. Dani was a bit sad for what happened to Charlotte but was happy that all is well with Wilbur. She didn't get the part about the side story with Fern and that boy. I can surely relate to Mrs. Arable :D

We loved the characters (the goose, gander and goslings were funny) and the book is easy to read to a six-year old child. Sometimes I'd read parts were I felt like I've read them already and the little girl will confirm that I did somewhere else in the book. It is so in a good way because it ties the story together and has a recall factor to it.

Seeing his hotness again makes me want to rewatch The Notebook.

Review: The Dragon of Lonely Island

When the husband came home with this book in tow, I thought we might not be able to finish it as "we" are not so much into dragons yet.

She loves Sarah Emily, probably she can relate to her more. I particularly like the wordings and descriptive details which is quite helpful in building my kid's vocabulary. It may seem that some phrases are repetitive but in a good way. Like hints, the little girl was able to predict what was going to happen next.

Surprise, surprise. It was rated "Amazing" by my five-year-old daughter.
